Services for Ralph Emery Sisson, 80, of Whitehouse, Texas, will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 17, 2009 at Whitehouse Church of Christ with Mr. J.C. Tate officiating. Burial will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Sisson passed away at 11:05 PM on Monday, July 13, 2009 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.
He was born on July 21, 1928 in Covington, Oklahoma to the late Marion Albert “John” and Lillie Alice Wells Sisson. He was a 1945 graduate of Ponca City High School and attended Tonkawa College. Mr. Sisson served his country in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He had a long career in oil refinery management, retiring after 43 years of service.
Our “Pop” was a fine man who taught us all about responsibility, hard work as a translation of love, the essential nature of an afternoon cat nap in the recliner, intense loyalty to family and the finer points of smoke blowing.
There is one less saddle in the bunk house tonight, Chief, and there’s never going to be another cowboy like you. Keep your hat on, and focus your eyes on the horizon. The northern lights are magnificent tonight, and they’re ready to lead you home.
Mr. Sisson is preceded in death by; his parents Marion Albert “John” Sisson and Lillie Alice Wells Sisson.
Ralph is survived by his loving family including; his wife, Alta Joyce Sisson; children, Grant Sisson and wife Ann, Kellie Snider and husband Dick, and Kerrie Hutchinson and husband Kelly; grandchildren, Jorge Sisson, Jonathon Sisson, Captain Joshua Sisson, Amber Sisson-Manuel, Jesse Snider, Micah Snider, Chelsea Hutchinson, Paul Hutchinson and David Hutchinson; 4 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Norma Kinzie and Flora Price.
Pallbearers will be Jorge Sisson, Jonathon Sisson, Captain Joshua Sisson, Jesse Snider, Micah Snider and Kelly Hutchinson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Amber Sisson-Manuel, Chelsea Hutchinson, Paul Hutchinson and David Hutchinson.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy, Tyler, Texas, 75703.
