A memorial service for Jerry Lee Bishop, 80, of Tyler, Texas, will be held on Friday, August 28, 2009 at 2:30 PM, at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy, with Bro. Bob Logan officiating.
Mrs. Bishop passed away, Wednesday, August 26, 2009 in Tyler, Texas.
He was born August 25, 1929 in Brownwood, Texas. He graduated from Brownwood High School in 1947 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1947-1951 and was a veteran of the Korean War. Jerry married Joyce Loraine Early on December 17, 1952.
After leaving the Navy, Jerry worked for five years in the office supply business and then began a lengthy career with the International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) in Dallas, Texas on March 11, 1957. He retired from IBM in Austin, on July 31, 1991.
Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by his mother Clara Jane (Manley) Bishop in 1933, and his father, Edward Learoy Bishop in 1978.
Jerry is survived by his loving family including his wife of 56 years, Joyce Early Bishop, of Tyler; daughter, Connie Bishop Foltz of Tampa, Fl.; son, Rick Bishop of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Steven Bishop, Rhiannon Cooper, Ashley Hamilton, Jameson Joiner and Jessica Joiner; and stepbrothers, Lowell and Malcolm Bishop of Bangs, TX.
A private family interment at Rose Hill Mausoleum in Tyler, Texas will be held at a later date.
In Lieu of flowers, a contribution to a favorite charity may be made in Jerry Lee Bishops name.
