Services for Mary Winifred Schambach, 83, of Tyler, will be held on Friday, April 23, 2010, at 1:00 PM at Rose Heights Church of God with Rev. Joe Zaino and Rev. Doug Anderson officiating.
A private burial will be held prior to the memorial service under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mrs. Schambach passed away on April 20, 2010 at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
She was born September 3, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA to James and Martha Helen Clark Donald.
Mary grew up in Mt. Forest, Ontario, Canada during the depression. While attending the Eastern Bible Institute of the Assemblies of God, it was there she met her husband Robert and they married a year later in 1948. They later moved to Missouri where Mary worked at the Gospel Publishing House to help with the expenses of Robert’s education. For a short time, they pastored in both Philadelphia and Pittsburg, PA before following the call to evangelistic ministry which would continue over the next 50 years. Mary and Robert then moved to Tyler in 1982 where they established the home base of Schambach Ministries. Mary served by her husband and family faithfully. She loved birds and was also an accomplished ice skater. Mary mostly loved the Word of God especially the Psalms. She was a person who saw only the good qualities in people.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.
She is survived by her loving family including her husband of 61 years, Robert William Schambach of Tyler; son, Robert William Schambach, Jr. and wife Laura of Bullard, Bruce Allen Schambach of Tyler; daughter, Donna Joy Schambach also of Tyler; and grandchildren, Rachel and Kenny Duay of Tyler, Robert William Schambach, III of Austin, Mark and Jessica Myers of Oklahoma City, OK., Amanda and Rick Worsham of Conroe, Christi Schambach of Houston and Craig Schambach of Tyler.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, April 22, 2010 from 6:00 –8:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy, Tyler, Texas 75703.
