Funeral services to celebrate the magnificent life of Robert Rush Bell will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Stewart Family Funeral Home with Rev. Sonny Jaynes and Rev. Rudy Bond officiating. Burial with military honors will be held at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Robert Rush Bell, 75, of Tyler passed away Friday, January 14, 2011 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.
Robert, known as Bob to everyone, was born in El Paso on August 25, 1935 to the late Catherine B. Totin and Lou Bell.
Bob graduated from Cathedral High School in 1953 and later attended Texas A&M University. In August of 1956 he enlisted in the Navy, and became a naval aviator. He was honorably discharged in 1964 as a Lieutenant. After the Navy, he attended and graduated from Texas Western College with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He then worked as a CEO in the industrial supply business for 36 years.
He was an avid and extraordinary fisherman the majority of his life. He attended New Life Worship Center in Tyler and was a member of the Rose Capital Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joan LaJeunesse. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Carol Ann Bell of Tyler; his sons, Jeffrey Rush Bell and his wife Monica Violeta Bell of El Paso, Gregory Whitfield Bell of Tyler, and Timothy Edward Bell of El Paso; his granddaughter, Nicole Renee Bell of Tyler; and his step grandchildren, Eric, Christian and Yohanna Lopez of Juarez, Mexico.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Bell, Greg Bell, Tim Bell, Walt Rusby, Wayne Basham, John Symes, Frank Conklin and Wayne Byram.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday, January 17, 2011 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
