Services for Lenton “Boogie” Newman, Jr., 67, of Tyler, will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Lou Gary Thomas officiating.
Burial will follow in the Bascom Cemetery in Chapel Hill, Tyler, under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Newman passed away Friday, April 8, 2010, at his home in Tyler. He was born May 6, 1943 to the late Jesse Maye Morris Newman.
Mr. Newman served in the Air Force during the Cuban Crisis as a B-52 Bomber mechanic. He attended Lanes Chapel Methodist Church, Tyler, TX. He was employed by Wisenbaker, Fix and Associates for 45 years. He was involved for many years with the boys and girls youth soccer programs in the area taking one team, The Stars, to the International Friendship Cup in Denver, Colorado on two separate occasions.
Lenton is survived by his sons, Kirk Newman and wife, Pam Mason Newman of Troup and children, Victoria and Joel and Brad Newman and wife, Terry Hawk Newman of Tyler and children, Brady and Bryce and their mother, Susan Bradley Newman. Brothers include Victor and wife, Marjorie Newman and Kelley Newman, both of Tyler. Sisters include Sheila Gardner of Pritchett, Sherry Sullivan of Pflugerville and Lucy Monkford and husband, Dale of Austin. Also, he is survived by Leanne Newman, widow of his late brother, Vann Newman. Lenton will be fondly remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Karl Miller, Todd Bradley, Byron Pierce, Jody Pierce, Bruce Gardner and Robert Sullivan. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Newman’s nephews.
Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2010, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7527 Old Jacksonville Highway, Tyler, 75703.
