Services for Alvin W. “Dub” Hooten, Jr., 84, of Tyler will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Shiloh Road Church of Christ with close friend, Ron Shultz, officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Hooten passed away on April 23, 2011 in Tyler surrounded by his family.
A. W. Hooten, known lovingly as Dub, was born in Dallas on February 26, 1927 to Lillian and A. W. Hooten, Sr. Dub served his country during World War II in the U. S. Army. After his service, his family grew from two to six as he and his wife, Sue, welcomed four boys. Dub worked for SWBT for nearly forty years. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with Sue and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Shiloh Road Church of Christ.
Dub is survived by a loving family including his wife, Sue; his sons, Alvin and his wife Roxanne, Larry and his wife Connie, Michael, and Greg and his wife Paula. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Cathy, John, Tim, Jennifer, Brandon, Brittany and her husband Paul, Brian and his wife, Amy, Wesley, Chris, Ashley, Lindsey, and Kelly, as well as numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
