Requiem Mass for Walter Newton, 91 of Bullard, will be held on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 2:00 PM at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Flint with Father Timothy Kelly officiating.
Burial will follow Bullard Cemetery in Bullard under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Newton passed away, Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Emeritus of Pinehurst in Tyler. He was born December 31, 1919 in Cassville, New York to Gilbert A. and Leonore Newton. He lived a full life including dancing on Broadway with the Glenn Miller Band, with his wife of 70 years, Ginny Newton. He served as a CBI medic in the Army/Air Force in WWII. He retired from Carrier Corp after 40 years. He also had a golf cart repair business in Emerald Bay, where he resided with his wife Ginny since 1972.
Mr. Newton was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Newton Dark and four brothers.
Walter is survived by his loving family including wife, Virginia “Ginny” Folts Newton; daughter, Karen Newton Vaughan and husband Connie; sons, Tim Newton and wife Vicki and Walter Newton, Jr. and wife Kay. Walt has twelve grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Connie Vaughan, Joe Dark, Chris Vaughan, Randy Parks, Denny Parks and Tayloe Ragland.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, September 29 from 5:00 to 6:30 PM with Rosary following at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy., in Tyler.
