Services for James Joseph O’Connor, Jr., 86, Whitehouse, will be held on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis Cable officiating.
Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. O’Connor passed away April 27, 2012 at ETMC hospital in Tyler. He was born in Scranton, PA to James J. Sr and Pauline Flynn O’Connor.
Mr. O’Connor served in the US Navy during WWII. He received ribbons for the Pacific Theater (1 Star) and the American Theater and the Victory Medal. James worked for the Lackawanna Railroad where he retired and also for the US Postal Service where he too retired.
James was preceded in death by his parents; wife Jean O’Connor; and siblings Francis O’Connor, Nancy Sheroda and Pauline Holloran.
He is survived by his loving family including his children, James F. O’Connor and wife Nancy and Carol Mehall and husband William; siblings, Mary Kluck, Kathleen Wademan and Margaret Moran; and by 2 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 8 step great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 6:00 –8:00 PM on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
