Thomas- Kathleen Wall Thomas, age 86, took her heavenly flight into the arms of her precious Lord and Savior on Friday, July 18, 2008. This world was not her home. She passed away at the Life Care Center at Wells Crossing where she lived for the past 3 1/2 years of her life as an Alzheimer's patient. Kathleen was born to Lillie Mizell and Benjamin Franklin Wall on January 20, 1922. She was married for 59 years to Rev. Carlton Parker Thomas from 2/3/45 until his death on 8/8/04. They had 5 children, Sherry Helen Whatley (Tommy), James Daniel "Dan" Thomas (deceased), John Paul Thomas, Esther Elizabeth Thomas, and Philip Mitchell Thomas (deceased). She is survived by 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers (Felton and Quentin Wall), and 3 sisters (Oreva Mae "Candy" Gilbert, Eileen Fegte, Jessie Gayle Shute). In addition to her deceased sons, she was predeceased by 1 grandson, 3 brothers, and 1 sister.
During WWII, Kathleen worked at the Jacksonville Shipyards as a welder. It was during this time that she met her husband, Carlton P. Thomas, with whom she worked. Together they were saved and spread the gospel to whomever they met, eventually founding 4 churches that are still growing in the grace and knowledge of Christ. Kathleen will be remembered for her sweet Godly nature. She truly met the criteria laid out in Proverbs 31:10-31.
