Hobbs – Oscar Floyd Hobbs, age 86 of Macclenny, Florida passed away January 31, 2012 at Frank Wells Nursing Home. Oscar was born in Naylor, Georgia on April 20, 1925 to the late Walter Early Hobbs and Flarzell Hobbs. He has been a lifelong resident of Baker County and retired after many years from the Department of Transportation as a Centerline Crewman. Oscar served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II where he earned the Purple Heart Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign (EAMETO) Medal, the French Legion of Honor Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family. Oscar was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Robertson; his brother, Randolph Hobbs; and his half-sister, Vester Cribbs.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Edna Lucille Hobbs of Macclenny, FL; his sons, Floyd Mitchell (Brita) Hobbs of Plains, GA and John (Charlotte) Hobbs of Glen St. Mary, FL; his son-in-law, Al “Robbie” Robertson of Macclenny, FL; his sisters, Margaret (George) Horton of Lake City, FL, Betty Jo (Jewell) Crews of Hilliard, FL, and Flarzell (R.N.) Duncan of Satsuma, FL; his grandchildren, Teresa (Gary) Manning, Bryan (Lily) Hobbs, Geri Hobbs, Lauren Hobbs, Courtney (James) Mann, Jennifer K. Harvey, and Amanda L. Robertson; and his 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday February 2, 2012 at 11:00 am at Ferreira Funeral Services with Pastor Edsel Bone officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Macclenny, FL. The family will receive friends on Wednesday February 1, 2012 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home. The arrangements are under the care and direction of V.
