Robert "Bob" E. Kuhns, age 67, of Watertown, South Dakota, passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 12 at the First United Methodist Church in Watertown. Reverend Joel Higgins will officiate with Jennifer, Emily and Allison VanLaecken as vocalists and Dorothy Brugman as the organist.
Interment will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Clark Likness and Bob's caregivers at Jenkins Living Center.
Active Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Kuhns, Ryan VanLaecken, Joshua VanLaecken, Nathan VanLaecken, Chad Rudebusch and Gary Kuhns.
Robert Eugene Kuhns, better known as "Bob", was born on July 26, 1942 to Robert A. and Florence (Boersma) Kuhns in Watertown, South Dakota. Bob grew up in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School in 1960 then attended South Dakota State University. In 1963 he entered the United States Marines, served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1967. Bob married Barbara Manning on June 15, 1968 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was employed by Watertown Municipal Utilities and was a Meter Reader for 29 years.
Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Quarterback Club and Elks Club.
He loved following his children and grandchildren's activities, playing golf, and was an avid Arrows, Vikings and Twins fan.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Florence Kuhns.
He is survived by children, Jennifer (Ryan) VanLaecken of Watertown, SD, Jeffrey (Tricia) Kuhns of Parker, CO and Jodi Rudebusch of Watertown, SD; his brother, Gary Kuhns of Sioux Falls, SD; and his six grandchildren.
