Ruth A. Cannon, age 86 of Edwardsville, Illinois died at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010 at the King-Bruwaert Nursing Home in Burr Ridge, Illinois. Years ago, Ruth worked as a secretary at Shell Oil Company in Wood River, Illinois. She was born August 5, 1923 in Edwardsville, daughter of the late Clarence Albert & Antoinette (Pedora) Bishop. She married Roscoe W. “Woodie” Cannon on September 30, 1951 in Edwardsville. He preceded her in death on October 6, 2002. Ruth is survived by two sons; David C. Cannon of Joliet, Illinois and Edward W. Cannon & his wife Mary Jean of Burr Ridge, Illinois; two grandchildren, Daniel Cannon of St. Paul, Minnesota, and David Cannon of Burr Ridge; 1 sister-in-law, Alvina Bishop of Alhambra. Ruth was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Bishop. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Edwardsville. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Valley View Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. John’s United Methodist Church.
