Arthur F. Wendler, Sr. age 87 of Edwardsville, died at 3:15 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2010 at his residence. He was born July 19, 1922 in St. Jacob, Illinois, son of the late Moritz & Lena (Busse) Wendler. Arthur practiced law in the Troy & Edwardsville area for 61 years, many of those years from his law office in Troy, IL. He a tried a case before the Supreme Court in 1993. Arthur is survived by one son, Eric Wendler and wife Tricia of Edwardsville; two grandchildren, Elaine Renee Wendler and Noah Wendler; and one brother, Herb Wendler of Pittsfield, IL. Arthur was preceded in death by two sisters and nine brothers. Arthur was a B-24 pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII, a member of the Illinois Bar Association, American Bar Association, American Legion Post 708 in Troy, IL, and Eden United Church of Christ in Edwardsville, IL. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois School of Law in 1948. There will be no visitation or service. He will be cremated according to his wishes.
